When I first started working with women, I thought it was all about calories-in, calories-out.  But that rug was pulled out from under me really quick!

Here’s what happened:

A woman named Ashley came into my office one day.  She was complaining that she just couldn’t lose weight no matter what she did.  It didn’t matter what she ate or how much she exercised.

She had seen that most of my clients were getting great results, so she came to talk with me.

I assumed she was just eating too many “hidden calories” and didn’t actually understand what she was doing.  So I told her that we could EASILY get her to lose weight.  Boy was I wrong!

Over two months had gone by, and Ashley didn’t lose a single pound!

I was training her for 90 minutes, 4 days a week.  She was logging her food every day.

She cut out dairy.
She cut out alcohol.
She cut out any sugar.
She wasn’t even seasoning her food!
I couldn’t explain it.

And then I found it.

There was a blurb in one of the medical journals about the metabolism and how you can repress it when you don’t eat or exercise correctly.

It’s called Repressed Metabolic Syndrome (RMS).

And here’s what happens:

Your own metabolism shuts down… and your body starts automatically storing everything you eat as fat.  Your muscles stop absorbing the food, so when you work out or exercise, you burn off muscle and slow your metabolism down even more.

This is what was going on with Ashley.

And the WORST thing you can do is eat less and exercise more.  (Which is was I had been doing with Ashley since that’s what they teach in all the books and schools!)

The ONLY way to fix this is to EAT MORE and EXERCISE LESS!  But you have to do it in a specific way that causes certain chemical reactions in your body… otherwise you’ll gain weight fast.

Here’s how it works:

When you eat anything, your body releases certain hormones and enzymes.  

Some of them cause you to STORE fat. 
Others cause you to BURN fat.

Odds are, you’re already eating healthy.  All of my clients were eating healthy before they found me.  And that’s why they were so confused when they couldn’t lose weight.

Eating healthy won’t produce results.  You must eat correctly.  (Ideally, you do both.)

When you eat correctly, your body will take all the food you eat and USE IT.  It won’t store any of it as fat.

But if you eat incorrectly, a lot of the food will be stored as fat.  

Then you have to burn off that fat before you can start burning additional fat.  And this is way harder.  It requires dieting, restricting calories, and doing other harmful diets…

If you do time restricted eating or one meal a day…

Even if you exercise too much…

Four Side Effects Will Occur:

The Cortisol Effect

Your Cortisol goes too high.  Cortisol is actually a fat-burning hormone… but only when it’s in the right range or sweet spot.  As soon as it goes out of range, it PREVENTS you from burning fat.

It also causes gut issues because it causes your body to redirect its blood-flow.  And now your digestive organs don’t get enough blood.  And you develop gut issues.

UNSTABLE Blood sugar

You create dips and spikes all day.  And this is terrible for weight loss. 

You want stable blood sugar.

But… just like Cortisol… it’s bad if your blood sugar is too high.  And it’s bad if it’s too low!  You need your blood sugar in the “sweet spot” to burn fat – just like Cortisol.

Metabolism Shut-Down

When your Cortisol is too high, it causes you to burn off muscle – slowing down your metabolism.

The Cortisol also hurts your thyroid function – slowing down your metabolism even more.  Likewise, if you don’t eat enough carbs, your thyroid function goes down and hurts your metabolism.

And if your body doesn’t think you’re getting enough food, it will simply lower its own metabolism AND produce an enzyme that causes you to STORE FAT!

Nutrition Threshold

Your body has thresholds. For instance, you have a pain threshold.  You also have “nutrition thresholds.”

For example, if you take too much Vitamin C at once, you don’t use it.  You pee out the extra Vitamin C that’s above your threshold.

It’s the same with food.  If you eat too much protein, carbs, or fats at one time… you end up getting more than your body can use.  But you don’t pee them out.  You store them as fat!
